What is a blood-borne pathogen?

A blood-borne pathogen is a harmful microorganism that can be transmitted through blood and causes disease in humans. Common examples include HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. These pathogens can also be present in other bodily fluids, particularly when blood is involved, making it crucial to handle all bodily fluids with care to prevent transmission.

How long does hepatitis live outside the body?

Hepatitis B virus can survive outside the body for up to 21 days. It remains infectious on surfaces, such as household items during that time. Proper cleaning is essential to prevent transmission.
